C. Michael Lewis wears many hats, each of them with style, grace & panache. His enthusiasms include art, architecture, human-powered and electric vehicles, sustainable energy and Portland, Maine. An artist and designer, he has lent his talents to architectural rendering providing, for almost 30 years, images of projects in Portland and elsewhere, some realized, some not. Working with architects, developers and government agencies, he has helped this community both to see itself and to imagine our city in new ways.

As a designer, Michael has been involved with alternative transportation for over 25 years. He has designed, built and raced five Electrathon vehicles, each a work of art, and currently holds the world record for these one-horsepower battery electric streamliners. He has worked to build and promote the local and national Electrathon programs, and is currently an active member of the Board of Directors of Electrathon America.

His interest in alternative transportation extends to all the 'extreme efficiency’ competitions, attending many of their events across the country. He also led a team that won a Federal Transit Authority design competition entitled Bus Rapid Transit and the American Community.

Michael has designed and illustrated educational material for the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) since its inception over 20 years ago, as well as Maine Audubon, Northeast Sustainable Energy Association and Chewonki Foundation.  His materials have introduced a generation of students to marine science and sustainable energy.
